Andy Collins’ paintings are well constructed as to form, color and a rather unique and unusual paint handling. The forms are based on abstracted versions of the human figure and you get a strong sense of this.  But the relationship is never explicit and the references rather tease instead.  The soft pastel colors create a dreamy surreal atmosphere alternately becoming focused or less so as it bumps up against some of the lines. lines themselves take on a gestural neon-like intensity. The problem with this show is that despite the uniqueness of the work it nevertheless reads as a slight variation on a theme.  While the comprehensive effect is remembered after you leave the show but it’s less easy to recall individual paintings.
