For all the weighted content, Overstreet clearly has a great deal of serious fun making these paintings with the intent sharing the enjoyment. Part of this is his subject matter which often references the human body.  The color, as represented by a variety of reds and pinks supports this notion. His medium is acrylic paint which, given its flat plastic qualities, is perfect for the sort of whacked out sensuality that permeates this work. (I wonder how these paintings might change if oils were used instead). There are barely any rectilinear forms to be found. and those that are do not conform to a strict relationship to the canvas edges.   As mentioned already, the artist tilts and shifts his forms so that a comprehensive imbalance is preserved.  You see this in a painting like WOW!MOM upside down where the horizontal form at the top composed of yellow, red, green and blue tilts down slightly to the right.  The strong equilibrium presented by the even arrangement of the forms is thus diluted.  Overstreet’s straight-man is an even handed sense of order which he challenges with a visual comic beauty. In this he uses everything at his disposal from the choice of colors to the askew symmetry to the titles he gives these paintings
