1/26/06 - This painting is an experiment for me in that I am painting it blind. By this I mean that I’ve adapted a technique that Renaissance marble sculptures used wherein they would close their eyes when striking the chisel to protect their eyes (no safety glasses in those days).. My goal is to loosen up control somewhat in the way the imagery is created.
11/4/05 - So it begins. I’ve taken an old painting and obliterated the image but have left some of the underpainting showing through. Rather than starting with a blank white canvas I want to establish a more interesting surface as a starting point.
